Jobs at Renys In the News		Belfast Reny's tent sale features slashed prices Wednesday, August 4, 2010 By Abigail Curtis BDN Staff BELFAST, Maine - For the next few days, shoppers who crowd into the big white tent in the Renys parking lot might find any number of things on sale for prices that store manager Geri Buffington calls "amazing." There are baby dolls, racks of clothes, champagne flutes, bird feeders, board games and electronics arranged in the kind of loose organization that makes sense for summertime tent sales, of which the Renys Belfast edition is a classic. The annual tent sale has taken place outside the Belfast Renys for more than 20 years, Buffington said. It is the only Renys in the state - there are now 13 - to host the sale, and the other stores' managers come to help. "It's been very popular. People really like a good bargain," she said Wednesday. Most of the already-discounted items from the Maine chain stores have their prices cut even further when they're put under the tent for the sale, which began Tuesday and will last through Sunday, Aug. 8. Sale clothing is not priced lower than at other Renys stores, Buffington said. Special this summer are some "pretty phenomenal" store electronics and a large selection of toys, she said. Staff also have "a lot of free things," she said. "We start giving stuff away, which is the best deal ever." According to the store manager, thousands of bargain shoppers come to the tent sale, including people from out of state who arrange their vacations around it. They might also step into the air-conditioned store, which has recently been remodeled and has banks of windows overlooking trees and is twice the size it was before. "Customers have absolutely loved it," Buffington said. "We still have the ‘wow' factor." The tent is open 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. through Saturday, Aug. 7, and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 8, in the Renys Plaza parking lot on Route 3 in Belfast.
