Reny's: Going Stronger Than Ever in Gardiner
Wednesday, May 16, 2007

It's a good thing for Gardiner that one of Reny's 14 Maine locations is right here on Water Street-- and has been here since 1956. For nearly sixty years, since opening their first establishment in Damariscotta, the Reny family has taken pride in their popular retail business, built on principles such as good value, service, quality and affordability. The company's first-ever color sales flyer, distributed earlier this month, offered outstanding deals on everything from Ghirardelli premium chocolate to Crocs footwear styles for the whole family.

Generations of customers know they can count on Reny's in several ways. First, there's the convenience of one-stop shopping for all the basics for your home-- and everyone in it. Reny's offers great prices on clothing, outerwear, and footwear including name brands such as Columbia, Woolrich, New Balance and Carhartt. Year round, Reny's always carries an impressive variety of toys, household necessities from sheets to shoelaces, and everyday foods as well as gourmet treats.

Second, seasonal items are available all season it sounds simple, but some retailers always seem to be several months ahead, clearing space for incoming merchandise which means they may no longer have what you need when you still need it. Now that spring is finally here, and throughout the summer season, at Reny's you'll find an ample selection of patio and lawn furniture, badminton and croquet sets, gardening tools and supplies, swimsuits and pool toys.

Third, in addition to the staple items and seasonal lines, every trip to Reny's includes unexpected closeout specials and off-price merchandise thanks to a team of dedicated buyers across the country, always on the lookout for savings to pass along. The selection is always changing a reason to visit often to enjoy your own Maine shopping adventure!

Last and most important, in a sometimes impersonal world of modern retail, Reny's continues to be known for welcoming its customers with personal attention. In all of our locations, we train our personnel to take pride in offering outstanding customer service, said Melissa Palmer-Karas of the Reny's corporate office in Newcastle. We have a great crew in our Gardiner store.

Gardiner store manager Robert Chandler oversees a staff of about 30 employees, some of whom have been on board as long as 20 years. As regular customers are already aware, this store, just across the street from the home office of the Gardiner Savings Institution, has undergone some major renovations to make the Reny's Gardiner shopping experience even more pleasant. Tired old carpeting has been replaced with shiny new flooring. Upstairs and down, there has been extensive remodeling with new fixtures, improved lighting, sections reconfigured for easier access, and wider aisles that invite browsing.

About the only thing that wasn't redone is the hometown hospitality. It would be difficult to think of a way to improve on that. As the hand-lettered signs in the front windows proclaim, RENY'S looking GOOD in GARDINER!
