Damariscotta Oyster Celebration was developed by O’Maine Studios as part of an initiative called Taste Maine’s Future to expand sales demand and workforce development for Maine’s passionate food and beverage entrepreneurs.
Celebrating an oyster culture dating back to 200 B.C., the communities of the Damariscotta River Region invite oyster lovers from around the world to Maine for the second annual Damariscotta Oyster Celebration, June 13 -15, 2019.
Maine’s Damariscotta River and estuaries produce a unique oyster crop that is recognized around world for diversity of flavor and quality. The Damariscotta Oyster Celebration was spearheaded by an alliance of Damariscotta oyster farmers to educate and inspire oyster culinary innovations in food, drink and culture.
The three-day celebration kicks off on Thursday, June 13, with chefs from North America competing in the International Oyster Chef of the Year competition at the Boothbay Harbor Oceanside Golf Resort.
