Farmington is the county seat of Franklin County, Maine, and the Farmington Renys opened in 1957. Whatever you need for the dorm room or your vacation, Renys has it in stock.

Beginning in the 1790s with the construction of its first sawmill, Farmington grew into a regional center for industry and agriculture. The town’s water power drew lumber mills, brickyards, a spool factory, a cheese factory, and many more to Farmington. Nearby farms and orchards produced wool, fruit, and hay. When Farmington became the southern endpoint for the narrow gauge Sandy River Railroad in 1879, it also became a gateway to the stunning Sugarloaf Mountain and Rangeley Lake areas. Today, Farmington is a college town, home to University of Maine at Farmington, and still serves as a gateway to the outdoor lovers’ paradise just ahead.

While you’re in town, visit the historic Hiram Ramsdell Octagon House, Greenacre, Cutler Memorial Library, and other notable historic sites. Explore downtown for a bite, a brew, and unique shops, or visit the Narrow Gauge Cinemas. Visiting during the fall? Check out the annual Farmington Fair, a week-long agricultural fair. Farmington is a great place to have a Maine adventure!
