Madison, Maine, a rural community in Somerset County, has been home to Renys since 1960. With a classic small town feeling, a taste of the arts, and access to exciting outdoor recreation nearby, Madison is a great place to visit on your Maine adventure.

For outdoor lovers, nearby campgrounds like Jellystone Park make a great home base for a visit. Enjoy the area’s fishing, canoeing, hiking, and unwind with a visit to Maine Maple Products for a sweet treat like maple candy or some locally tapped maple syrup to take home. It’s always tomato season in Madison with Backyard Farms in town, and Northstar Orchards is a beautiful place to pick apples in the fall.

Madison, founded in 1804, is named after United States President James Madison. Like many small Maine towns, Madison grew up as a mill town with woolen mills, saw mills and paper mills fueling its growth. Its historic sites include the Madison Public Library, one of many such libraries across the USA built with funds from the Andrew Carnegie Foundation, and the Lakewood Summer Theatre – Maine’s official summer theatre and the oldest continually operating summer theatre in America.
